| Beautiful Herriot Country is an area of countryside, peacefully sandwiched between two world famous national parks - the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. Nestling in the Vale of Mowbray, it is an area of grand sweeping hills, rich valleys, charming market towns and pretty villages. It takes its name from one of the world’s best-loved writers, James Herriot, alias real life vet Alf Wight, who lived and worked in the market town of Thirsk for more than 50 years. It was from this quiet corner of North Yorkshire that he drew inspiration for his tales of veterinary life. |
